The success story of Gerwin at McFly & Brown

Gerwin van der Kruis (44), an experienced Lead Hardware Engineer, shares his journey with McFly & Brown in this open interview. He discusses how he was introduced to McFly & Brown, the progression of the collaboration, the results we achieved together, and where he stands today.

On his way home from a regular workday, Gerwin received a call from Martijn with an intriguing proposal: “I have an exciting challenge for you at an innovative and growing company where you can make a real impact.” This immediately sparked Gerwin’s interest. They discussed his preferences and requirements to ensure the perfect match. This led to a successful placement at Eyrise, where he worked for nearly four years on cutting-edge glass technologies as a Hardware & Embedded Engineer. During his time at Eyrise, Gerwin developed new core competencies in the field of Embedded Engineering.

Since early 2024, Gerwin has been leading a team focused on designing and producing schematics and layouts for ASML’s state-of-the-art semiconductors. Reflecting on his role at 3T, Gerwin shares: "Working in a highly technical and demanding industry where precision is essential undoubtedly brings challenges, but it also delivers immense satisfaction."


Some of the questions from the interview were:

What would you say are the challenges at your current position where you work now?

“The biggest challenge in my current position at 3T is working in a highly technical and demanding environment where precision is absolutely critical. Together with my team, I am responsible for designing and producing layouts for ASML’s cutting-edge semiconductors. This requires not only technical expertise but also a high degree of perseverance and attention to detail. Additionally, I work in an internationally diverse team, which makes the work more dynamic and enriching. Aligning all these different perspectives can be challenging, but it’s also what makes the work so fascinating and deeply satisfying.”
